You as a Full-Stack Developer at PoliceReports.ai:
PoliceReports.ai is the AI documentation and investigative platform that police departments and sheriff’s offices use to write reports, automate forms, and analyze evidence, all inside a CJIS-compliant environment that runs alongside their existing RMS and CAD systems. As a Full-Stack Developer here, you ship features that officers use on shift in agencies across multiple states. The work sits close to the user and the feedback loop is short.
Your Work Day as a Full-Stack Developer:
You start with a short stand-up alongside a small distributed engineering team. From there you pick work up end to end: the Laravel backend, the interface that consumes it, and the tests that keep it honest. You will spend real time on the details that matter in this domain, such as data handling, audit trails, and access control, because our users are agencies with strict compliance obligations. You review your teammates’ code, you get reviewed, and you deploy. Most weeks you will see something you built land in front of a real department.
Responsibilities/Core Tasks:
• Build and maintain features across the whole stack, from database to interface. • Own what you ship, from first commit through to production. • Work within CJIS and SOC 2 constraints, handling law enforcement data carefully by default. • Integrate with external systems, including agency RMS and CAD platforms. • Debug and resolve production issues, supported by our AWS infrastructure setup. • Help shape technical decisions rather than only implementing them.
Who You Are:
You are comfortable owning a feature without being handed a detailed spec, and you ask the questions that get you to one. You care about the people using the software, not only the code. You are steady about security and data handling, and you would rather ask than assume when the stakes involve criminal justice information.
You Have:
• Solid commercial experience as a full-stack developer. • Strong PHP and Laravel skills, including Eloquent, queues, and automated testing. • Working front-end ability with modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. • Comfort with relational databases and queries that hold up at scale. • Experience with Git-based workflows, code review, and CI. • Clear written English, since the team is distributed across time zones. • Nice to have: experience with AI and LLM APIs, AWS, or Laravel Forge.
